چکیده

Cryptosporidium parvum (C. parvum) infection is one of the main causes diarrhea in calves. The current study assessed role blood biomarkers (acute-phase proteins (APPs), procalcitonin, neopterin, cytokines, and oxidative stress pathogenesis, diagnosis, prognosis calves naturally infected with C. parvum. Fifty-seven calves, aged from 10 to 45 days, were detected positive for allotted into diseased group; twenty healthy selected as a control group. Serum amyloid A, haptoglobin, tested groups. serum levels APPs, malondialdehyde increased, whereas antioxidant significantly decreased compared Moreover, all examined altered towards normal values following different treatment protocols. All highly effective discriminating between parvum-infected individuals. Furthermore, area under curve (AUC) showed that parameters had higher degree prognostic accuracy predicting response Our data suggest usefulness immune pathogenesis contributing diagnosis efficacy.

The protozoan intestinal parasite Cryptosporidium commonly infects cattle throughout the world and Iran. The present study was undertaken to determine the abundance and associated risk factors of Cryptosporidium infection in cattle herds of northwestern Iran. A total number of 246 fecal samples from 138 (56.1%) diarrheic (D) and 108 (43.9%) non-diarrheic (ND) cattle were rando...

Strategies for the control of Cryptosporidium parvum infection in calves.

Cryptosporidium parvum is a protozoan parasite that is now recognized as one of the leading causes of diarrhea in young calves. To date, there are no drugs or preventive measures available for the control of this disease. We have developed an oral vaccine that, when given to calves at birth, protects against experimental challenge with C. parvum. However, when field tested on a large dairy oper...

Serum immunoglobulin G, M and A response to Cryptosporidium parvum in Cryptosporidium-HIV co-infected patients

BACKGROUND Cryptosporidium parvum, the protozoan parasite, causes a significant enteric disease in immunocompromised hosts such as HIV patients. The present study was aimed to compare serum IgG, IgM and IgA responses to crude soluble antigen of C. parvum in HIV seropositive and seronegative patients co-infected with Cryptosporidium and to correlate the responses with symptomatology. METHODS C...
